Danish Royal Library
is located at the Kophenag Quay. The royal library is the world’s largest library and has an extremely modern architecture.

In the Royal Library you will find published works from the 17th century to the present day. The library also has the first book in Danish from 1482.
The history of the Danish Royal Library dates back to 1648.Its current architectural form was built in 1999. The architect of the Royal Danish Library is also the Danish Schmidt Hammer Lassen. Three bridges were added to the building.
The library part of the building is open to anyone over the age of 18 with a valid research purpose. Inside the building there is a conference room, a theater and a concert hall with a capacity for 600 people, a restaurant, an exhibition room and a cafeteria.From the terrace you have a wonderful view of the harbor. The library has 6 reading rooms with a total of 486 seats. The number of active members of the library is around 32,000.

Interestingly, between 1968 and 1978, 1600 priceless books were stolen from the Royal Library. The thief who stole the books managed to sell these books at various auctions between 1998 and 2002 for more than 2 million. The incident takes place at an auction in London in 2003. It turns out that the perpetrator of the theft was Frede Moller-Kristensen, one of the former directors of the royal library.However, since the director’s death in 2003, his family has been imprisoned.
The Royal Danish Library is located in the center of the city, so access to the library is very easy. You can even walk there. Admission to the library is free. The library is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.The library is closed on Sundays.
